Auracast Broadcast Audio is a new capability introduced by Bluetooth SIG that enables an audio source device – such as a smartphone, laptop, TV, or even a public address or sound system – to transmit Bluetooth audio to any number of in-range Bluetooth audio receivers – such as headphones, earbuds, or even hearing aids. Auracast™ broadcast audio will deliver life-changing audio experiences that will enhance the way we engage with others and the world around us. The Bluetooth Auracast™ broadcast audio solution developed by Realtek includes a Transmitter, Receiver, and Assistant. Realtek's Assistant solution also enables the control of Auracast™ Receiver to play audio from the Transmitter using existing smartphones. Additionally, it can be applied to assistive hearing systems, breaking limitations and offering a new auditory experience.

In partnership with multiple corporate members, Bluetooth SIG recently organized a captivating experiential event called Auracast™. This remarkable event unfolded across three public venues, including airport bars, boarding gates, and conference centers, immersing participants in a groundbreaking auditory experience delivered by Auracast™ broadcast audio. The event's objective was to transform attendees' lives by allowing them to experience this advanced technology up close.

Realtek played an important role as a member of Bluetooth SIG, working closely to create the Auracast™ contextual experience scenes. Realtek provided the Auracast™ Transmitter technology, which is essential in creating an engaging and immersive experience at the event.

• The first stop is the airport bars : Unmute Your World

In public places, televisions are usually displayed without sound to prevent disturbing others. With Auracast™ broadcast audio, we will be able to fully enjoy televisions in public spaces by using earbuds or hearing aids, unmuting what was once silent and creating a more complete watching experience in the future.

• The second stop is the airport gate : Share Your Audio

While waiting at the boarding gate, if you are watching videos on your computer, you can invite others to share your audio experience using devices such as laptops or smartphones that support Auracast™ broadcast audio. Your family and friends can wear earbuds and watch the same video. Additionally, with earbuds supporting Auracast™ broadcast audio, you can directly listen to boarding gate announcements.

• The third stop is conference center : Hear Your Best

By wearing earbuds that support Auracast™ broadcast audio, participants can directly listen to the audio being played from the speakers at the conference center. It even provides an effective solution for simultaneous translation, allowing the audience to use their earbuds or hearing devices to listen to audio in their desired language. This feature ensures the best audio experience for individuals with varying hearing conditions.

Realtek Bluetooth offers Transmitter, Receiver, and Assistant solutions

Realtek Bluetooth offers a comprehensive solution for Auracast broadcast audio, including Transmitter, Receiver, and Assistant. The main product types can be divided into the following two categories:

1. Point-to-point connection with smartphones through LE Audio, delivering improved audio quality and transmission. For example, receiving digital signals from sources like TV's SPDIF or Ethernet, the processor decodes and optimizes the audio quality before outputting it in PCM data format.

2. Establishing a one-to-many broadcasting infrastructure, Realtek offers a complete solution, including transmitters and receiver-equipped earbuds/speakers. The audio source is bridged to the audio processor through I2S or UART interfaces, enabling the Auracast broadcast functionality. This solution can be widely applied in public venues such as airports, fitness centers, and conference centers.

Lastly, Realtek's Assistant solution supports controlling the Auracast™ Receiver to play audio from the Transmitter using existing smartphones. It can also be integrated into hearing aid systems. The emergence of LE Audio and Auracast brings forth innovative applications. Realtek will continue to advance LE Audio technology, offering users improved scalability, advanced AI features, and a more adaptable and accessible SDK. This will enable users to explore the unlimited potential of audio technology in the future.
