BT/Thread Adaptor

Realtek has a category of products specifically designed as Adaptors for general protocols such as Bluetooth and 15.4, also referred to as NIC or adaptor-type products. Unlike SOC products, these only carry RF, a small number of IOs, general USB or UART interfaces, RF/Baseband/MAC, and the underlying protocol. They connect with the corresponding Host end (master end) via HCI/ATCMD/RCP and other interface protocols, which completes the higher-level protocols and the entire application layer development.

For Bluetooth adaptors, users are more familiar with Bluetooth adaptor products. For example, the RTL8761B series provides USB/UART interfaces to help the master end complete most classic Bluetooth functions such as HFP/A2DP/SPP, as well as all BLE-related functions based on GATT. The RTL8761C series further provides Auracast (LE Audio) capabilities, including both CIS and BIS, for various platforms. The platforms can run a variety of operating systems, such as Windows/Android/Linux, or even special OSes, but this would require contacting Realtek to discuss feasibility and support methods.

For ATCMD adaptors, the RTL8761ATT supports single-connection SPP/HOGP data transmission, while the RTL87x3BFR can provide multi-connection SPP/HOGP data pass-through services. The Host end porting does not require a Bluetooth-related protocol stack, making it quick, convenient, and stable.

For the 15.4 protocol, the RTL8771H/G series, through the RCP protocol interface, provides support for Thread based on USB/UART. The Host end can run Thread Matter/OTBR (open thread board router)/Matter service.
