Matter

Breaking ecological boundaries to achieve the interconnection of all things, IP intelligent protocol, CSA security certification.

Matter is an IP-based application layer protocol designed to address compatibility issues in smart homes, enabling seamless connectivity between devices from different brands. By providing a unified standard, Matter fosters a more open and interoperable IoT ecosystem. It supports communication based on Thread and Wi-Fi, with Thread specifically designed for smart homes and based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard.

Realtek SoC supports Thread and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which can operate independently or collaboratively to meet the needs of various application scenarios. Users can utilize Realtek SoC to implement various configurations of Matter devices, including Router, Sleepy End Device (SED), and Synchronized Sleepy End Device (SSED), to meet different network requirements. Additionally, through the Thread Border Router, Matter devices can achieve cross-network communication.

These solutions offer users flexible Realtek SoC application options, thereby enhancing the connectivity and compatibility of smart homes.

Basic Working Principle

Matter Architecture

Matter is a protocol based on IPv6 that utilizes transport layer protocols such as TCP/UDP to facilitate network addressing and reliable packet transmission. Matter is compatible with multiple connection options, including Thread and Wi-Fi. This flexibility allows devices supporting Matter to communicate through various network protocols, ensuring broad compatibility and integration with different network technologies. Matter also supports bridging with other technologies like Zigbee, Bluetooth Mesh, and Z-Wave, enabling existing IoT technologies to be integrated into an interoperable environment. The compatibility and seamless integration between brands create a unified ecosystem, ensuring harmonious operation of smart devices.
